Launching "Rachel Sarai's Vineyard" by Deborah Rey
On the 7th April Deborah Rey will be Seventy. It is quite a day as she never thought she would see double figures, never mind reach adulthood.
This may sound an odd thing to say, until you realise that Deborah was at the age of Five a member of the Dutch Resistance and involved in the rescue of countless people from the persecution of the Nazi invaders.
Rachel Sarai's Vineyard is Deborah's account of the war years, and is quite simply one of the rawest stories you will ever read. It may sound incredible, and in the current climate of hoax and exposure, it would be easy to dismiss, but against this backdrop of deceit, the harsh truth of her writing shines.
Below, Deborah introduces her book, which is to be launched on her birthday. You should listen to her words, and you should see for yourself.

A surreal, darkly hilarious and often terrifying novel, that digs into the heart of an ASBO community and finds it to be as healthy as the ash from a packet of Kensitas Club. (Second Edition)
"Messages" is the result of an exciting writing collaboration between Lynne Rees and Sarah Salway. Ranging from moving to the playful, the themes of love, sex, life, death and chocolate all take their place in this unique book of 300 pieces of 300 words.

McLoughlin's fourth collection orbits around four poetic loci. Each of the sections exhibits a primary thematic focus; however threads of all the major themes cross into the other sections to create a rich weave of inter-juxtapositions.
